The “Winter of Death” foretold by President Joe Biden has fortunately not materialised. Similarly, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s warnings of the new “emergency in our battle with the new variant” and that a “tidal wave” of Omicron could be “so big that cancellations and disruptions, like the loss of cancer appointments, would be even greater next year” now seem over-stated.
“We know that the most amount of transmission occurs in those one to two days before you develop symptoms (to) those two to three days after you develop symptoms," Walensky said. "And if you map that out, those five days account for somewhere between 85% to 90% of all transmission that occurs.”
If asymptomatic transmission (AT) is epidemiologically relevant, I’m proposing per Walensky’s remarks to be seeing 40% of transmission that we’re pretty sure about occurred from individuals without symptoms.
To what extent does the literature support that?
It’s an important point. I’ve argued that AT is not only epidemiologically irrelevant, but that decision makers knew perfectly well that’s this was true.
Fauci said exactly this with his “Never in the history of respiratory viral epidemics has transmission been driven by people without symptoms...” speech.
WHO’s Kerkhouve said the same, with her “We've been looking at transmission from those without symptoms & to be honest, we’re not finding it, it’s very, very rare”. She later was reported to have “walked back” her remarks. She didn’t, though. Instead she said “our models tell us AT is important” (circular argument).
re point 7 this crossed my mind too. A way out perhaps, or at least a gateway to a conversation based on "new" information?

Nicola Sturgeon has back-pedalled today too - lifting restrictions on large outdoor events.
Then she doubled-down on vaccine passports - second dose > 4 months and you're unvaccinated again.
I also noticed the use of the word "protections" rather than "restrictions" - no doubt some will thank her for this!!
Doubling down by Sturgeon has been off the scale, given omnicron is evidently less harmful. It is all political, in Scotland at least. I predict this year will be focused on increasing hatred towards those who choose not to take up the offer of the jabs, with MSM pushing this, (for whatever agenda). I also predict increasing lockdown type measures for climate purposes. The build up for this can be seen in the media and by what type of protests are allowed and encouraged and the promotion of piety, the opportunity to be virtuous and those questioning, shamed as being uncaring and selfish. I am anything but a conspiracy theorist, but the last two years show anything is possible and have made me question more than ever. Not the response you’re looking for re doubling down etc. I feel mask wearing is being enforced more harshly globally, with all children over 2 in US now being mandated to wear masks every time they leave the house. Only allowed them off at nursery to eat or sleep. Surely this is socially conditioning children to be fearful, lack communication skills, empathy and feel isolated? This for me is the most dystopian of all. Utterly chilling.
Hi Laura, I would be interested to know if you saw the videos of Whitty, Vantam and Valnce all saying in 2020 that masks dont work. In particular VanTam saying their was a 15 year controversy over masks and he'd phoned his professor mate in Hong Kong or somewhere and they had oncluded that masks don't work! What changed their minds (if they were changed at all)? Also Dr Hillary on GMB saying mask don't work because of all the touching of the face and spreading germs-wonder what he has to say about that now!
It's also particularly galling to see Johnson sat next to David Attenborough with no mask on at the recent G7 and also Attenborough sat with his disposable landfill mask on (which according to Swansea University leak dangerous chemicals when soaked in water)
I absolutely agree with your sentiment on Javids little charade Laura. I said immediately I saw it, that it was staged. Firstly the source, Sky “News”. There’s no way that would be broadcast unless there was an ulterior motive. Secondly the way it panned out, the little group of nurses saying nothing and then the plucky junior doctor pipes up with his well worded argument and no attempt to shut him up. I believe this is paving the way for Pfizer’s new electronic Covid pills. They will be just as dodgy as the vaccines, still show up on a scanner to prove if you’ve swallowed or not and will address the good doctors “concerns” that immunity must be boosted monthly and that vaccinating that frequently is impractical. I could be wrong but there is DEFINITELY more to this encounter than meets the eye.

The most pressing question to answer at this point is why the UK has not been transparent about the origin of the virus. Senator Rand Paul has been relentless in his questioning of Fauci on the Gain of Function research, (funded by $Bn's of US taxpayer funding over many years), done in the Wuhan lab. There has been zero coverage of this in the British media. Why has MI5/6 not conducted and published a full investigation in to the US coverup and established whether there are possible sites in the UK where similar GOF research is being done? I The US is purported to be an "ally". Is this why the UK public is being denied the facts on the origin of the virus?
Re the Downing Street parties, pretty much the whole deal for me was the constant message that everyone is at risk when clearly we’re not. Yes, of course they understood the risk was low, and In the context of a group gathering where there is little risk of anyone dying as a result, and probably had some mental health benefits they were perfectly reasonable but in the context of doing something you’re telling everyone else not to do, they’re totally unreasonable. Held back on this one initially, I don't want to kick off speculation about vaccines, but one other thing that happened recently that got my attention was the sudden praise from the Biden administration for Donald Trump's efforts in getting vaccines out so quickly.
And of course Trump's fragile ego laps it up!
I wondered at the time if this was a pre-empt to shifting, or at least sharing, blame*. It's certainly out of step with what were two brutal election campaigns that until then hadn't let up.
Particularly as both Biden and Harris are on record saying they would not take a vaccine the Trump administration brought to market while he was still in office.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his health minister have just recently doubled down on mandatory jabs perhaps being needed. This after calling the vaccine free all sorts of nasty names and asking how long 'we' need to put up with these people.
Based on the latest from Pfizer (an updated vaccine being available in March 2022) it appears there's a doubling down on vaccination and against early treatments - well, againsts the cheap off-label repurposed early treatments, rather than the expensive new concoctions.
Following Omicron it's going to be interesting to see how willing people are going to be to accept 4th doses, etc. Pfizer seems to being going with 'variant-proof' as a reason but surely people won't fall for that...

Yes! the UVC scandal. I've been bashing my head against a brick wall for over a year to get UVC forced air devices adopted - even invented my own low cost version - and used it in an show I was putting on. Then I got this early 2021 after querying with my MP:

I note that you state in your email that the report in question was commissioned in April 2020, and published two weeks later. A report titled ‘Evidence of environmental dispersion of COVID-19 for different mechanisms’ was published on 26 May 2020 and looks at environmental dispersion for different mechanisms and the risks and potential mitigations/measures of control within different environments. You will note that UV disinfection devices are mentioned in the report." You can find this in section 39.
So government *still* prefers the 14th to the 21st century. Watch back-peddling on this issue.
